MidPoint Music Festival is the Midwest’s premier independent music festival. Now celebrating its eighth year, MPMF2009 was held on September 24 – 26 throughout the downtown Cincinnati area. The festival lives up to its slogan, Music Starts Here, by bringing the region together to celebrate the music of nearly 250 bands from all around the world.

This was my first year to photograph the festival for CityBeat. I shot shows all over downtown Cincinnati at venues that ranged from the Havana Martini Bar to the Know Theater all weekend. It was amazing to see this many diverse types of bands and music come together in my city. I can’t wait for next year.

I was blown away with the teen sensation The Trouble with Boys when they performed on Fountain Square on Saturday night as the opening act for Mia Carruthers and the Retros. MTV was filming Taking the Stage while Mia performed.
