\"\"<\/a>Hinder is Oklahoma hard rock. The band, comprised of members Austin Winkler (lead vocalist), Joe \u201cBlower\u201d Garvey (lead guitarist), Mark King (rhythm guitarist), Mike Rodden (bassist), and Cody Hanson (drummer) blew up in 2005 with the release of their debut studio album Extreme Behavior<\/em> which featured popular hits \u201cGet Stoned\u201d and \u201cLips of an Angel.\u201d They are climbing the charts again with the single \u201cWhat Ya Gonna Do\u201d off their third studio album, All American Nightmare.<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy caught up with the band prior to their performance at Rock Fest when she\u00a0traveled to Cadott, Wisconsin to check out the popular rock festival that has been around since 1994. They had time to discuss the new album and the festival life. The band will be rocking the entire summer hitting rock festivals all across the country.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: You\u2019re out here in the metropolis of Wisconsin. What did you guys do last night?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Austin:\u00a0 We played a show in Indiana.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: So you were on the bus last night?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Group: Yeah<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: Is this your first time at RockFest?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Austin: I don\u2019t think so. I think we\u2019ve played this before in 2007.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Blower: I know we\u2019ve played this venue.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Austin: We played with Three Doors Down in \u201907.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: What can we expect today from the set?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Cody: Rain!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Austin:\u00a0 Rain and Lots of wetness.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Cody: We\u2019re going to get the chicks wet tonight.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mark: God is doing it for us.<\/p>\n

Cody: Wow!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: That\u2019s the line of the day. You guys were just at Rock on the Range. What was your craziest Rock on the Range story?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mike: I think I pissed myself that night.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: Any particular reason?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mark: I don\u2019t remember why because I was blacked out but I definitely woke up with some wet pants.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Cody: Shit I was so hammered that night, I might have pissed your pants.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Austin: I got so high, I didn\u2019t know where the phone was.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: Did you guys go to Rocklahoma after that or did you just go on tour?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Austin: Yeah, we did Rocklahoma for the first time. That was pretty awesome. It was about time too because we are from there.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: I love the new album. It was one of my favorites that I listened to prep for Rock on the Range. I\u2019ve been listening to it ever since. What\u2019s your favorite tracks to play live on the album?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mark: \u201cTwo Sides of Me\u201d is one of my favorites to play live. It\u2019s a good little rocker.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Austin:\u00a0 \u201cWhat You Gonna Do\u201d is one of my favorites to play recently.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: It\u2019s catchy. I can say it with you.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mike: Tell that to radio.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: It\u2019s all over the radio. I\u2019ve been in traffic coming into this place for a day and I think I heard it three times today. I think they got the memo that you were here. You guys have toured with some huge bands. Are there any other bands that you would like to tour with or play with?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Austin: I want to play with the Rolling Stones.That would be awesome.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Amy: You guys did Aerosmith for a few dates right?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Group: Yeah<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Austin: That was badass.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mike: I\u2019d like to play with The Doors, if that was possible.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: I had a question about \u201cStriptease.\u201d Any particular strippers or clubs that inspired that song?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Austin: I think it\u2019s a lot of the bullshit that\u2019s being shoved down people\u2019s throats these days.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Cody: It\u2019s more about a few of the pop artists and you can throw some reality stars in there.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mike: Yeah, it\u2019s kind of like they belong more in a strip club than they do on the radio or TV. That\u2019s about how much talent they have.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mark: Dude Ke$ha is talented, alright.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: In more ways than one right?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Cody: I doubt that. I did just see a picture of her online yesterday with her holding her tits and a big wad of nut underneath.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Group: Are you kidding me?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: Are we sure it was her?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Cody: Yeah, or it was some nasty bitch that looked just like her.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: So what has been the highlight of 2011 for you guys so far?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mike: I don\u2019t think we have any super-big highlights.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Austin: The fact we have our third record out is pretty awesome. Being well-received by our fans, I think that\u2019s pretty badass.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mike: We might just make a highlight tonight.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: I have to tell you. I was here last night and Rob Zombie made a highlight.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Cody: What did he do?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: The stage, as you know is two-tiered. He said, \u201cEverybody is too far away. Come up on the stage.\u201d So all the girls came up on the stage with them for four songs. He said, \u201cIf you behave. Don\u2019t fuck it up.\u201d Next thing you know I am running onto the stage and at John 5\u2019s feet.\u00a0 So I think that shocked the security and the venue for a minute. So you guys can try it. \u00a0Nobody got hurt.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mark: They are a lot braver than us.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Blower: A lot more scary looking too.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: Any regrets over the years?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Mike: Yeah, we have lots of those. We have a whole bag of them.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Cody: We have tons of regrets and mistakes we have made over the years. Especially when you first start out being a band. You are green and you let outside people have a little too much control and make some bad decisions for you. If we could go back, we would probably have a lot more money.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: Do you guys all still live in Oklahoma.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Austin: I don\u2019t. I live in California.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Cody: But the rest of us do.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: How often do you get home?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Cody: We just came from home. We have been home for quite a bit on this cycle. It\u2019s been a little more relaxed. We\u2019re out on this run for like seven weeks. So it\u2019s good to be out.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: Do you guys prefer to play festivals like this and Rock on the Range or your own shows where you have your own, obviously your fan base is here too, but when you have your own shows, you know who is there?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Austin: Either way, we bring the same show. I guess sometimes when we play like Rock on the Range, we only get a certain amount of time. We come in and play 40 or 45 minutes, that kind of sucks. I wish we could play longer. Other than that, we bring the same show no matter what.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mike: It\u2019s kind of cool too, to have a break from the same tour every night and have a few festivals stuck in there because the lineup is different, there are different bands at all the festivals. So it\u2019s cool to get a change from the everyday show.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: Anybody you are looking forward to seeing today?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Blower: I\u2019ve never seen Kid Rock so I am pretty stoked about that.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: You guys are touring with the new album. Have you started working on any new music yet?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Austin: Not necessarily recording in the studio but we are always coming up with ideas and stuff on the road. We kind of never really stop writing.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: What\u2019s your process? Do you guys do it together or separately?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Austin: Usually me and Cody will sit down with acoustic guitars and write the nutshell of the song and bring it to the rest of the guys and they put their thing on it.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: How does the feedback session go?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mike: Pretty straight forward.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: You guys have been together forever so you can take it right?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Group: Yeah<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Amy: You guys had a ton of songs to pick from for this album?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Cody: We\u2019re hoping to be able to recycle some of those and use some for the next record. There are some really great songs that didn\u2019t make it. Hopefully we\u2019ll pick some of them out for the next one.<\/p>\n
